Ayub Raouf is a visual artist based in Sulaymaniyah, Kurdistan Region, Iraq. Working across abstract painting and installation, he uses gesture, colour and layered surfaces to explore movement, emotion and the encounter between a work and its viewer.
His practice is grounded in an intuitive process of action and response. Large-scale compositions often develop through spontaneous marks and vivid fields of pink, magenta and purple. Alongside his studio work, he has taught art since 2009 and has led children’s art activities with Kurdistan Save the Children since 2014.
